Waiting for a brighter day

Writer's picture: Eileen BoreEileen Bore

Sometimes we wait for something that is already here. There are is a saying, the grass is never greener on the other side. We tend to look for happiness and fulfilment in other places instead of treasuring what we have already be given. So what if your light and brighter day is already here and it is for you to share to others when you have it?!

When the days in the Northern part of the world gets shorter and the darkness is getting heavier day by day, many find it hard to get through the days with joy. The daylight light boosts our production of a hormone called melatonin which is responsible for helping us to sleep well. Serotonin is another important hormone that gets released with the exposure of light. This hormone is associated with having a positive effect on our mood. During the darker season our whole body reacts the reduced exposure of light. There is, however, a light that shines in the darkness that has the biggest effect on our body, mind and soul, his name is Jesus Christ.

There is, however a light that shines in the darkness that has the biggest effect on our body, mind and soul, his name is Jesus Christ.

As the days goes darker and the winter season is here the preparation of the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ gets more visible as the days goes by. The streets and shopping windows are decorated with lights and our homes are prepared for this one day, the celebration of Jesus Christ aka Christmas. Though many are preparing for the celebration too many does not know the King who was born to the world over 2000 years ago. Too many does not know that the lack of Jesus, our light, is the cause of their emptiness and constant feeling of dissatisfaction. No matter what you try to fill the void with it will not work. It is only through Jesus we are saved from this darkness that surrounds us.

Darkness can only be present with the lack of light. As Christians we are to be the light in this world. We are to lead people to the source of our light through our life. Do you know that you are called to be light in this dark and broken world? Many people are still waiting for the King to save them, but they don't see there's a light that already was brought to life 2000 years ago and He is living in each and every one that call upon the name of Jesus. So this season I want to encourage you to share about Jesus and show whose child you are. Let others get to know who lives within you and share the testimony of the darkness He saved you from. Shine your light.

If you have read this and you don't know Jesus, the light of the world, and you want to receive him into your heart you just invite him in and say out loud that you believe in your heart that Jesus is Lord. I've written down an example of a prayer you can read out loud.

"Jesus, Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen."

You are welcome to message me if you just made the decision to follow Jesus.
