Uprooting and freedom

Updated: May 28, 2018

When the soil hasn’t been cultivated for a while there is a lot of seeds that can grow. If we overlook our lives and what seeds we allow to grow, maybe we even deliberately nurture them with returning to the sin and allow the weed grow deep roots in our lives. We might even think they doesn’t do any harm, but when the time comes, and you notice that the good and beautiful plants you are growing doesn’t flourish as they are supposed to you start the weeding. At this point the weeds root system has grown long and wide roots, and you have a hard time removing them. Some weeds you the only thing you can do to overcome them is to continue weeding for many seasons as only a small part of the root makes it grow into a new plant.

Sometimes in our life things run so smooth, we even forget to thank God for the goodness in our life. We might even think we manage quite well without Him. It is like when we are neglecting our flower bed. We allow all sinful thoughts and behaviour as slandering, pornography or simply not depending on the Lord, take hold of our life. It not only will make bad roots, it will lead you eyes away from Jesus. We need to open our eyes and repent and run towards to the Father who is running towards us with open arms.

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. Romans 8:11

Jesus sees your cries of desperation, he knows your regrets and he loves you even though you have sinned. He took it all on the cross. His blood has covered it all. Its not just words in the bible. Jesus died, rose and will come again. Jesus is alive today. He has taken up resident in all who believes in Him as his savior.

To live a life in Christ is the most exciting life. It is not easy, but in Jesus we have all that we need. He will calm the storm, he has forgiveness, grace and love. No matter what we have done, as we repent Jesus blood has washed us clean. Sometimes even tough we have accepted Jesus as our saviour if we do not turn away from sinful behaviour, every day, the old bad roots are able to sprout. Our behaviour and thought patterns might not be changed, and we need to take an extra effort with the weeding in our life.

God wants us to live in a relationship with Him. Ha has called us as sons and daughters. He wants us to walk in the freedom that He has given us. Sometimes you might just need an extra hand with the uprooting so that you may live in holiness and the fullness of the life God has intended for you bearing good fruits, in Christ Jesus.

Something to reflect on:

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal to you what you allow to grow in your life that is not good and ask Jesus for forgiveness.
